Aztecas Alpha Interview

About one month ago i was interviewed by Djamel from Aztecas Alpha, a Parkour team from México. And here it is the English version of it. Have a nice reading.

Bruno Rachacuca.

"Who is Bruno Rachacuca?"

My name is Bruno Peixoto, AKA Rachacuca, from Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil. I'm 28 years old and i'm training Parkour since february 2005.

"How you discover Parkour?"

What firstly caught my attention to Parkour were the jumps and the practitioners' ability to jump. I have a Basketball and Muay Thai background, and the jumps were familiar to me somehow. The first Parkour footage i've seen was the Jump London Documentary and that has changed my life ever since.

"What is parkour for you?"

For me, Parkour is about the employment of useful movement. Not only to move around freely, but mainly to move objectively.

"how do you train yourself?"

I do a lot of strength training on week days, most of them at night, that's when i work on my upper and lower body strength and power, plus speed and conditioning exercises, lots of precisions jumps and climb ups. On the weekends i challenge myself way more on Parkour moves. Nothing too dangerous, i look for very technical things so i can repeat it over and over. Also i read a lot of things i can relate to Parkour, Spiritual and Physical training. And i keep a very healthy diet away from junkie food.

"how do you see Parkour in your country?"

Parkour is evolving pretty fast in Brazil, though it's very recent in here, as it is outside France, i guess. The number of new practitioners grows big and there are a lot of people who take the Parkour training very seriously, which is good. And we had the chance to train with some respected traceurs from Europe who showed us important concepts and points of view.

"what does parkour give to you?"

It allows me to maintain a balanced way of living. While i'm training i'm working my body, mind, spirit and emotions. And it let me to know myself a lot more because of that. Plus, regards to the common interest in Parkour i've met great friends for life.

"do you expect something about parkour?"

I expect the less, i cheer for the better and i'll be glad with anything that comes. I hope it makes sense. lol.

"why do you train parkour?"

I train it to get in contact with these feelings, when you do something that depends only on your skills and you concentrate all your being to achieve a goal. And when you do it with determination and a free mind, the sensation is amazing. It helps me to deal with other issues in my life in a positively and energetic way. I train Parkour because it's fun and powerful at the same time.

"do you have team?"

Yes. PKMAX Parkour is together for almost 4 years now. We're 4 traceurs and 1 traceuse training and discussing Parkour non-break. We've just launched our website:www.pkmaxparkour.com, and we're now affiliate of Parkour Generations, and we're very excited about it, i like very much the way they do their stuff and how they train.

We experiment a lot. Sometimes we mix Parkour with other activities that we're into, like Contemporary Dance, Live Performances, Social projects and Cinema, i'm graduating in Film Production this year.

"how do you spread parkour in your country?"

I try to show people how good can someone develop while training properly. PKMAX team organized the 4th Brazilian Parkour Meeting along with the Brazilian Parkour Association last December and we had a blast. We're gathering good and respected info from all over the world to our community and posting it on websites and blogs. We organize trains in the city to help beginners find their way also.

"Something you want to say to mexican readers and practicioners?"

First of all i want to thank you Djamel for the opportunity and the Aztecas team as well. I'm looking forward to meeting and training with you guys some day. I hope you can visit us in the near future too. Train hard. Cheers from Brazil.
